Spring has arrived and for many, it’s a time to start thinking about getting active and in shape. If you own a swim spa at home, you’re in luck! It’s not just a great source of entertainment or a spot to unwind, it’s also an amazing tool to get a full-body workout that’s easy on your joints and great for your heart, weight loss, and overall health. Here are three swim strokes that you can easily do in your swim spa to get started.

The butterfly is an excellent stroke to target your back, shoulders, and core muscles. You’ll swim on your chest, moving both arms symmetrically while keeping them straight throughout the entire stroke. Your arms will move in a perfect circle over and over while you perform a dolphin kick with both legs pressed together. This stroke will strengthen your anterior deltoids, pectorals, and core.

The backstroke is a great way to target your thighs and back muscles. It involves floating on your back and moving each arm backward to create a paddling motion. As you move your arms, you’ll also do a flutter kick with each leg, which will work wonders for your thighs. With each arm’s backward movement, you’ll also give your shoulder muscles a good workout.

For endurance, weight loss, and cardio, the freestyle stroke is the way to go. This stroke requires you to repeatedly submerge and re-emerge your head while making windmill arc motions with your arms. You’ll also add a flutter kick to complete the exercise. Breathing as little as possible will help you up your speed and endurance. Freestyle provides unique cardio challenges that mimic high-intensity cardio workouts and will significantly improve your overall health.

Swimming is an excellent way to do a complete body workout every time you take a dip, as opposed to targeting specific muscle groups at the gym. It will help you achieve muscle tone and release feel-good endorphins that will transform your physique. If you have access to a swimming pool, this regimen will work great there too. But, if you don’t have access to a pool or don’t have space for one at home, a swim spa is an excellent solution.

Swim spa owners, make 2023 the year you reap the benefits of swim fitness every day in your own backyard. Oh, and if swimming for health and wellness is not your thing… then you’ve still got a fantastic place to kick back and relax!!
