It’s no secret that Canadians are a hardy bunch. Instead of hibernating in the dead of winter (which does sound delightful on those -40 degree days), you can find countless people and families out embracing all the great white north has to offer. Winter adventuring and winter sports are on the rise, with Ontario Parks reporting 26 provincial parks are offering services including day-use access, front and back country camping, and roofed accommodations (including cabins and yurts).
In addition to the growing interest in all-season camping options, eco-tourism providers and lodges are also upping the ante. A prime example, Algonquin Eco-Lodge, is nestled in Ontario’s cottage country. This unique and secluded lodge is located on the southern border of Algonquin Park, making it a wilderness enthusiasts dream. In the winter, they offer more than 40 kilometres of groomed tracks; add this to the trails inside Algonquin Park, and you could spend days snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hiking, or dog sledding.
While the Algonquin Eco-Lodge is completely off-grid, the amenities are a testament to the use of alternative energy. Thanks to an on-site waterfall, the owners are able to use 100% micro-hydro electricity to offer the finer comforts – including a carbon neutral hot tub!
The team from Hot Tub Covers Canada is always on the lookout for unique getaways, complete with hot tubs or natural springs. If you’ve got a destination we can showcase in an upcoming post, connect with us or leave a comment. Great hot tub adventures await!
