Hot Tub Cover Canada followers may recall the bizarre video and news stories that surfaced in May 2016. A resident of a home near Okanagan Lake had called police to report their surveillance camera had recorded a rather odd escapade (or as the media said, a sexcapade) in their backyard hot tub.
Police reported the video showered a woman and a man sneaking into the backyard. The trespassers looked into the windows of the home, then proceeded to smoke, drink and use the hot tub for “physical relations”.
Outcome Of Mischief & Trespassing Charges
In December of 2016, Sarah Clementi, 45, pleaded guilty to mischief and trespassing. She was sentenced to one year probation, fine $500.00 and 20 hours of community service.
In March of 2017, Noah McDonald, 18, pleaded guilty to mischief and trespassing. He was sentenced to probation for one year and was ordered to pay the victim a $100 surcharge.
Hot tub owners in British Columbia, and really, everywhere in Canada, are urged to look to this case as a reminder: lock up your hot tub when not in use. If your hot tub cover did not include locking straps or lockable safety clips, many hot tub and hot tub cover manufacturers can help you find a solution.
